Architectural Design comprises the complete layout of the building including position and sizes of rooms, doors, windows and other components of building of aesthetic and functional value. Basically all the physically apparent aspects of a building are conceived in an Architectural Design. This also includes preparation of plans, elevations and other projections containing necessary details.
Meanwhile, the structural design comprises the structural components of a building including the placement of beams, columns, slabs, footings, etc. and their design, the thickness and depth of beams, cross section areas of different structural components, amount of steel required as reinforcements and amount of materials required and related details. The basic objective in structural analysis and design is to produce a structural capable of resisting all applied loads without failure during its intended life.
